The Reading Professional Learning Community has established the Literacy Nook. The Literacy Nook is located in the Institute for Academic Excellence (Kight Building V125). We know all too well the challenges faculty face in not only getting students to do the reading, but also getting students to comprehend the reading. We are placing journals, handouts, and books in the Literacy Nook which will support you and aid your students in their success and completion at IRSC. In addition, we offer a workshop each semester on ways to engage students with reading assignments and discussions in the classroom.
The Literacy Nook isn't just about reading across the college. We have also included a bookcase for other faculty to place materials that can support faculty and students in the classroom. If you would like to add to the selection, please stop by and drop off your material.
PLEASE NOTE: Materials in the Literacy Nook are reviewed or checked out on an honor system. While we know everyone will do their best to make sure the materials are always there and available to their colleagues, we also know materials may get lost or damaged. If you have something that you do not want to part with, please do not drop it off, since we can't guarantee it won't get lost or damaged.
We encourage you to stop by and review our materials in the Literacy Nook and attend one of our upcoming workshops.
